National Weather Association (NWA) SOL HIRSCH EDUCATION FUND GRANTS $500 grants are available annually from the NWA for teachers in grades K-12 to improve the education of their students in Meteorology. Applications are due by August 1 each year. http://www.nwas.org/solhirsch.html
- Toshiba Large Grants The mission of Toshiba America Foundation is to promote quality science and mathematics education in U.S. schools. Grants are made for programs and activities that improve teaching and learning in science and mathematics, grades K-12. The Foundation focuses its grant making on inquiry-based projects designed by individual teachers, and small teams of teachers, for use in their own classrooms. K-6 grants are up to $1,000. - American Honda Foundation Grant Grants are provided in the fields of youth education and science education to educational institutions, K-12, accredited higher education institutions (colleges and universities); community colleges and vocational or trade schools. - Ezra Jack Keats Foundation Mini-Grants This grant supports hands-on environmental projects in K-12. The range of grants awarded by the Foundation is $250 - $2,500. - Learning & Leadership Grants Provides opportunities for teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to engage in high-quality professional development and lead their colleagues in professional growth. The grant amount is $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study. - Student Achievement Grants Provides $5,000 to improve the academic achievement of students by engaging in critical thinking and problem solving that deepen knowledge of standards-based subject matter. The work should also improve students’ habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection. (These grants replace the foundation’s Innovation Grants program, which has been discontinued.) - Youth Literacy Grants (Dollar General) The Dollar General Youth Literacy Grants provide funding to schools, public libraries and nonprofit organizations to help with the implementation or expansion of literacy programs for students who are below grade level or experiencing difficulty reading. - The NEA Foundation Presents the NEA's Books Across America Library Books Awards: In collaboration with the National Education Association, The NEA Foundation will make approximately 50 awards of $1,000 each to public schools serving economically disadvantaged students to purchase books for school libraries. - Lowes Outdoor Classroom Grant Program The program will award grants up to $2,000 to at least 100 schools. In some cases, grants for up to $20,000 may be awarded to schools or school districts with major outdoor classroom projects. The grants can be used to build a new outdoor classroom or to enhance a current outdoor classroom at the school. - Teacher as Researcher Grants This grant supports classroom teachers who undertake action research inquiries about literacy and instruction. Grants will be awarded up to US $5,000, although priority will be given to smaller grants (e.g., $1,000 to $2,000) in order to provide support for as many teacher researchers as possible. - Toyota TAPESTRY Grants The program is open to all middle and high school science teachers who teach at least two science classes per day. The program is open to elementary teachers who teach some science in the classroom or as teaching specialists. Fifty (50) one-year grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded for the 2007 competition. - Target Local Store Grants Grants of up to $1,000 each to fund a field trip for their students. Other store grants range from $1,000 to $3,000 and should impact the arts, early childhood reading or family violence prevention.
