I was blown today (3-28) from Crossville to Maryville.  Oh, I had to pedal a lot over the 78 miles, but it sure is a lot easier when there is a strong tailwind as there was today – one of 15 to 20mph.  Despite climbing a lot of hills, I arrived in Maryville in very good condition.  Near Maryville, I got my first look at the main range of the Appalachian Mountains separating Tennessee and North Carolina.  They may not be as high as the snow-capped peaks of the west, but they will be a formidable challenge to ride over and through anyway.

Early in the day I stopped at Ozone Falls State Natural area.  It was well worth the stop.  The falls drop 125 feet and had a lot of water flowing over them today because of the recent rain.  I walked down to the base of the falls to get the best view.
