March 13, 2000

The next morning (3-13), after enjoying one of Cheryl’s special “power milkshake” concoctions, Gene and I headed off in a northwest direction.  We had to cross the scary bridges again, but made it out of Charleston in one piece (each).

Gene asked me to help remind him that he needed to buy a couple of things - a pair of new bike gloves and some deodorant.  We never did find a bike shop for the gloves, but I quickly pointed out a drug store for the deodorant.   He said it was really more important to find the gloves, but I told him that as his traveling companion, I might see that issue differently.

We stopped for the night in a state park campground near the town of Canadys.
