The next morning (1-13) I was off in the
direction of Big Bend National Park, but not before fixing a flat tire. I found a small piece of beer bottle
brown glass in it. That done, I
departed down Rt. 118 to Study (pronounced Stewdy) Butte a mere 80 miles away with nowhere
to stop in between. Fortunately, I had a mild
tailwind today and arrived in plenty of time to set up camp before sunset. On the way down, I passed some very striking
individual mountains, many nicely identified (name and elevation) by the Texas Department
of Transportation.

I also took a three-shot panorama for Dave
at the Home Station
My campground wasnt great, but it
was okay, and it had a laundry room where I did some computer work. I had dinner at Vanns Place a
Desert Bistro. It was a real
hole-in-the-wall, but the food was good. I
had Texas Chili, which was good, but its just meat in a seasoned sauce no
beans, no peppers, no mushrooms. I like Dave
Bloughs chili a whole lot better.
