February 9, 2000

The next day (2-9) was another great one as I rode from Magee to Wiggins (about 80 miles) in sunshine and warmth.  The countryside was rolling hills and lots of trees, but nothing to write home about (unless you’re keeping a journal).

Early in the day I passed through Mt. Olive, Mississippi and noted a sign that said “Home of Steve ‘Air’ McNair” (Tennessee Titans quarterback).  At the end of the day, I stayed in Wiggins, Mississippi and noted a sign that said “Home of Dizzy Dean” (Hall of Fame baseball pitcher).

In between, I spent some time “fixing” the public education system in America.  I need to give it more thought, however, so I’m not ready to write anything in the journal.
