Well, I was certainly wrong about one
thing. I woke up this morning (12-7) to find
a whole lot of condensation on the outside and inside of the rain fly of the tent. It wasnt foggy, but we had certainly reached
the dew point. In fact, we had reached the
freezing point as there were lots of ice crystals on the front part of the rain fly.
I rode from Ventura today toward
Palmdale. I wanted to ride to
Palmdale, but didnt make it. There was
this thing about the wind, and this other thing about a 3200 pass I had to go over. By the time I got to Santa Clarita, it was too
late to get to Palmdale. I stopped at a
motel and finished up Part 13 of the Journal, which I then E-mailed to Becky. This will make for a long day tomorrow over
the mountain pass, then another 50 miles to Victorville.
I decided I needed a very early
start, so I put in a request for a wake-up call at 6:00am (local time). Sometime shortly after, I realized I would have
to unplug the telephone to send home the E-mail (photos take a long time so I do them as I
go to bed). I told myself I would just have
to hear the tone that the computer emits to signal the end of the transmission and then
get up and re-plug in the telephone. Amazingly,
it worked. I not only heard the tone a couple
of hours later and got up, but also managed to plug everything in correctly.
