I spent Sunday (8-15) with Martha and Ed getting a
chance to see a part of Washington that Im not planning to visit by bicycle. We took
US Highway 2 through Stevens Pass (4061) with stops at Deception Falls (very pretty
and no relation to Deception Pass) and Leavenworth, a Bavarian Village very
attractive, but also very touristy. We then went South through some of the great
Washington fruit growing country (apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, etc.) and
into Ellensburg. From there, we took I-90 back to Snohomish with a stop at Snoqualmie
Falls (270 high).
It was a really nice high quality family day.
Martha and Ed are just super hosts and so easy to be around. They stayed in Washington
after Ed retired from the Air Force 23 years ago not only because it is a great place to
live, but also because it is a great place to visit. They had some high hopes that family
members would visit often because of the great scenic beauty of the surrounding area.
However, they havent had too many family members visit in all those years. So let
this serve as a wake up call to all those family members that havent yet been there
go visit Martha and Ed! In fact, Im sure that any of my friends would be
welcome. Aw heck, anyone who reads this on the Internet, go out and see Martha and Ed.
