April 25, 2000

The following day (4-25) was a short ride from Danbury to my Uncle Bob and Aunt Esther’s house in Hamden.  It was cool, but dry and therefore totally tolerable.

I went to Hamden via New Haven so I could get a quick look at Yale University. It’s about eight miles from New Haven to Hamden along city streets.  I followed the same bus all the way and arrived just after it did, proving once and for all that people should commute to work by bicycle.  In fact, I could have made even better time if the stupid bus hadn’t kept stopping in front of me.

Bob and Esther moved from Akron to Hamden over 40 years ago, and I haven’t seen them enough over the years.  I can’t fault them, though, as they’ve been back to Akron (every other year or so) many more times than I’ve been to see them in Connecticut (twice).  Their older son (my cousin) Kent lives nearby, and he and his wife (Beth) and their Beagle (Buddy) came over after dinner.  We had a really nice evening.
