"Cool" and Easy Things from Google
Google is truly an amazing search engine. I recently discovered some functions on the site that II didn’t know existed on the site. They're fast and easy! Check them out below. Go to http://www.google.com .
Need to find the source of a quote? Just type the quote into the search line.
Need a specific type of file for example, a PowerPoint presentation on data analysis? Type dataanalysis filetype ppt. This works for videos, images, etc.
Don’t have a calculator handy? Just type the equation in the search bar. (e.g. 21/7)
Want the weather? Type in the word weather and the zip code. You’ll get a four day forecast.
Don’t know what’s playing at your local movie theater? Type in movies and the city and state or movies and the zip code, for example, movies Kent, OH. or movies 44240.
Want up-to-the-minute news alerts? Select News at the top of the Google Page. Then select News Alerts on the left side bar. Enter your information and select how you want them sent and how often.
Need your text translated to another language? Select Language Tools on the right side of the bar. Input what you want translated and select the language. This site also allows you to translate a Web page.
Need full-text journal articles? Select “more” at the top of the page and than select Google Scholar. Advanced searches also are available.
