Introduction

The planet Earth is no longer inhabitable, because of the depletion of the ozone layer and the enormous waste of resources, what should we do?  Where should we go?  What do we need to survive?  Is there any place that could support life?

The Task

Enter into the world of survival:  Are we ready to be challenged like we have never been challenged before?  Do you have it in you to become a Hero?

You will be put into groups of 4, with each group member with a different task.

Your job is to find  out as much as you can about the solar system and what it ill take to survive in it.

Find your information over the internet, and never discount the information you already possess.

Each group will then present the world with their findings.  This can be done through a hyperstudio or a written report.

The Process

Now you know what the task is, here is how to accomplish it.

1.      You will get with your group and get to know each other because it will take all of you to succeed.

2.      In your groups you will choose which group member you will be and explore.

3.      After you decide which role you will overtake, you must gather as much information as you think is needed to help the world decide.

4.      As you are gathering information keep in mind what you want to present to the world via the form of HyperStudio or written report.

Group members

Inner Locaters- The inner locaters will be gathering information over the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter).  They need to find such information as the size of the planet, temperatures, type of atmosphere, components in the atmosphere, land features or topography,  surface materials.

Outer Locaters- The outer locaters will be gathering information over the outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto).  They need to find the same information as the inner locaters.

X-factors-  The x-factors are the group members that will gather any other possibilities for sustaining life other than moving to a different planet.  For Example:  space stations, different galaxies, staying on earth.

Conclusion

Excellent job!  Did you ever know how many great and interesting things there are out in space.  The planets are very exciting because they are so different form each other.  Are they a place where we could live?  Is there a place where we could go if earth was no longer inhabitable?  If you wanted to learn more about space where would you go to find the information you are looking for? Did you look up more questions that you wondered while you were working?
