How Much Would It Cost To Mail Me?

1.     How many pounds do you weigh?  Use the scale. __________ lbs (rounding to nearest pound).

2.     How tall are you?  This is your height.                                          How many inches across is your waist?  This is your length.                                                                                         How many inches wide are you? (Remember, Stanley was only ˝” thick.)  This is your width.                                                    Have a buddy measure you, using inches only.  

3.    Click on the U.S. Post Office website and click on Send Mail and Packages in the top middle tool bar. 

4.     Find the heading Ship Packages and select “Determine Postage” and click on it ONCE!

5.     Find the option “Calculate Domestic Postage”, and click on the “go” below it (If you are going out of the United States, you will need to see your teacher on this.)

6.     Under choice 1) click on “Package”.  You can use the tab key to move from each selection. Under choice 2) “From Zip Code”, enter where you are starting from.   Next, type in where Stanley went to visit at “To Zip Code” (Hint, look at your envelope).  Under choice 3), enter your weight information.  You will get your weight from #1 above.  Click on continue.

7.     The next choice a sks you to describe your package.  See #2 above.  Move the cursor to “Length” and type in your information from above.  Use the tab key to move to “Height”, type in your information and then do the same for “Width”.

8.     Choice #2 asks you to select a characteristic for your package.  Use the arrow next to the box a nd select the third one down by clicking on it.  This is “More than 34 inches long, or 17 inches high or 17inches wide.  Click on “Continue”.

9.     This page lets you select the type of Mail Service.  We are going to use “Priority Mail”, so click on that circle and write down how much it will cost to mail you.  $______________

10. You are done with the Postal Website so go to the “tool bar” at the top and select “Favorites” and “Flat Stanley Goes on Yet Another Adventure”.  This will take you to your next activity.  Save this sheet as you will need it for your final project.
