The Task
The Hudson City Schools needs to know
how much money they are going to need to purchase all the instruments played by
the students in instrumental ensembles at East Woods School. Therefore,
you will need to do some online shopping for instruments and get prices.
Then, you will report your results to the Board of Education.
The Process
You will need to print out this
form; click here. Then, go online to find a price for each instrument.
CLICK HERE TO SHOP FOR STRING INSTRUMENTS.
CLICK HERE TO SHOP FOR WOODWIND INSTRUMENTS.
Then, multiply the Number of Instruments Needed by the Price for Each Instrument and write that amount in the Sub Total column. Finally, add up all the prices in the Sub Total column. This will be the amount of money Hudson City Schools will need to purchase instruments for the students in instrumental ensembles at East Woods School. Be prepared to report your results to the Board of Education.
Evaluation
You will be graded on accuracy of Price for Each Instrument, multiplication total of Number of Instruments Needed by the Price for Each Instrument in the Sub Total column, and the addition of your final TOTAL.Conclusion
By now, you know how much it will cost Hudson City Schools to purchase instruments for the students in instrumental ensembles at East Woods School. You may want to add more or delete some instruments to see how your final cost is changed. For example, you may want to add a piano. If so, you will need to find the price of a piano you would like to buy. You may want to set a final cost that you don't want to go past. If so, which instruments won't you buy? You may want to listen to some musical examples and suggest some pieces to our new orchestra's conductor. If so, click here and you will need to be prepared to give the conductor the title and composer of the pieces you suggest. Remember, you have only purchased the instruments; you haven't bought any music, chairs for the instrumentalist to sit in, or stands to hold the music while the students are playing.
