Introduction

During the semester you have read a number of myths explaining such things as:  Creation, Titans, Major gods and goddesses, creation of man, lovers, the Underworld, heroes and their perilous journeys, flowers, Greek attributes, monsters, and nature.  Though these myths are some of the most popular in explaining “first causes” some of the characters within them are involved in many other myths as well.  What you are to do through this Web Quest is to further your interest of a specific god, mortal, monster, etc. by researching other myths that involve some of their other exploits.

You will be responsible for completing the following items:

-Make a list of at least three sites that you have gathered information.
Based on your findings, answer the following questions:

  • Name the major god/goddess involved in your myth-How did they use their powers?
  • Were there any mortals involved?
  • What qualities/ attributes/ virtues/vices did any of these characters display?
  • Were there any monsters?
  • How would you classify this myth (i.e. Nature, Flower, Love, Hubris, Foolish Promise, Hero, Etiology, Hospitality…) Explain why!
  •  Theme
  • A briefly written summary of your myth  (Make sure you include all the necessary details)
  • A visual interpretation of your myth:  painting, sculpture, collage, comic strip, etc.
  • An oral summary of your myth to be given to the class ( in the form of a letter or journal written to…)

The end result will include:
