Introduction

You are home alone when an animal stops by your house and asks you for a snack.  You say, “okay” because you are nice to animals.

Ø      Will you let it in?

Ø      Will you feed it?

Ø      How long will it stay?

You will have quite an adventure, as your ‘visitor’ wants to do many things besides eat.  Just wait until you see what happened to the little boys in the books you’ll be reading.

The Task

Some stories seem to go around in circles.  As soon as it ends it could start all over again.  In this Web Quest you will be making a story wheel telling the story of a pesky visitor from the animal kingdom that wears you out.  And you were only being nice!  You will be using lots of materials to help you, including the Internet.

The Process

With a partner read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & If You Give a Moose a Muffin.

The books are in the classroom.  Ask your teacher if you need help.

Complete the mouse sheet or the moose sheet that you can get from your teacher.  They ask you questions about the book you just read.

Make a list of the things the animal wanted in one of the books.

Get one set of dominoes from your teacher.

Make one set of dominoes containing all the items on your list.  Put them in the right order and make them tumble in a circle.

Choose an animal that you would like to have in your story.

Print out the picture and information on the animal

which you chose.

You will be making a wheel.  Find out about the word “wheel”.

http://www.ajkids.com

On the top of your paper make a sheet like the one to the right and fill it in.  On the bottom write down the meanings, synonyms, forms, and part of speech for “wheel”.  Keep it in mind as you make your wheel.

Think of your animal and the snack it wants.  What funny things could happen in your story?

Use the “kidspiration” form your teacher has set up on that disc.  She will show you how to use it.

Make a wheel from construction paper.  Divide it into sections and fill in those sections as you tell your story.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated by how well you work with your partner, how neatly you complete the worksheets, and how well you concentrate on your computer work.  In addition to that you will earn 5 points for each of the five items you turn in.

Conclusion

·         You have learned how to create a story that goes in a continuous circle.  There are many other things you could do with the two books you read. http://www.lauranumeroff.com    Perhaps you’d like to learn more about moose and mice and what they really eat.  http://www.zoobooks.com/animalsAtoZ/directory.htm   You may also choose to make a book from your wheel.  There are other books written by this author.  I hope you’ll find some of them in the classroom.
