The Washington Monument

          The Washington Monument is found in

Washington, D.C.  It was built to honor our country’s

first president, George Washington.

          The monument was made out of granite and

took 36 years to build.  It was finished in 1884.  It

is over 555 feet tall.  It has a staircase and elevator

inside so people can go to the top.  At the top you

can look out small windows to see the rest of

Washington, D.C.
