Golden Gate Bridge

          The Golden Gate Bridge is

recognized as an important landmark

of the west.  It is located in San

Francisco, California.

          It was built in 1937 and is one

of the world’s longest suspension

bridges.   It is almost 2 miles long.  It spans the entrance to San Francisco. 

          The bridge is made out of steel and concrete.  It withstands brutal winds, tide, and fog.  It is also sits less than 8 miles from the spot where one of the worst earthquakes in history occurred.
