The Gateway Arch

          The Gateway Arch, found in St. Louis,

Missouri is the tallest American monument.

It is over 630 feet tall.

          In American history, St. Louis was

known as a starting point for many pioneers

and settlers heading west.  The Gateway

Arch was built to honor these Americans.

          The Gateway Arch was built on the

shore of the Mississippi River.  It was

completed in 1965 and was made of steel

and concrete.
