Introduction

Ohio has the slogan “So much to discover.” One thing to discover is why Ohio is called “The Mother of Presidents.” If you were to get a free day in honor of one of the Ohio presidents, which one would choose and why?

Task 1  

  1. You will find out how many Presidents came from Ohio and which ones they were.

  2. You will find something out about each one.

Process

Save everything  in your portfolio to be used in Task 4.
   
         (Use a separate piece of paper for each president)

1.      You will locate where they came from on a map of Ohio.

On a map of Ohio that you will be given, circle the place where each president is from and put his name next to the circle.

1.      You will choose one to honor with a holiday when there would be no school.

Process

Write a letter to your Ohio State Congressman explaining which President you wish to honor with a free day from school.

Conclusion

·        Congratulations! You now why Ohio is called “The Mother of Presidents,” and you have learned something about each one. Is there a politician from Ohio that you think might run for president in the next election? Do you think that you or one of your classmates might be one of the future presidents from Ohio?
