History:
I attended Niles McKinley High School and graduated in 1963. In the fall of
that year I began working toward an A.B. degree with a major in Mathematics
and minors in Education and Latin. Four years later I graduated from Youngstown
University and was hired as a math teacher in the Niles School System. I taught
all types of Math at Edison Jr. High school for twenty-one years, then I moved
to Niles McKinley High School for the last fourteen years of my teaching career.
While at the high school, I taught Algebra II, Geometry, and Math Proficiency
classes for seniors as well as computer classes.
Computers have been a part of my life since 1985 with my major focus the past fifteen years being: desktop publishing, graphics, multimedia presentations and digital video and photography. I primarily use the Macintosh OS X computers for work and home, but I maintain and set-up the PC Lab at PBS 45 & 49. All the major software programs I use run on Windows and OS X: Graphics, Photoshop; Web design, Dreamweaver; presentations, Power Point; desktop publishing, PageMaker; the exceptions are I use iLife on the Mac for video and DVD productions and Adobe premiere and Sony Vegas Studio for video and DVD productions on the PC. Be sure to visit my first PBS 45 & 49 production, You Be the Producer, for many tips, discussions, and links for help in beginning, organizing, producing, and publishing a student video documentary.
An integration of times in my life with what new technology was appearing.

The early years—Late 1940’s I was borne in Rio de Janiero, Brazil S.A. at the end of WWII. Two years later my parents moved back to Niles, Ohio and computers such as the ENIAC filled entire rooms. Popular Science magazine predicted “that someday computers will weigh only 1-1/2 tons”. |
