An integration of times in my life with what new technology was appearing.

The early years—Early 1950’s

As I grow bigger and enter the 1950s, computers are about to become much smaller as the transistor replaces the vacuum tube. To the left is a photo of the first working transisitor.

The middle years—Mid 1950’s

The cub scout is now ten years old and transistors have been produced and placed in everyday items such as transistor radios. I will get a radio for my birthday in two years, the price is $29.95 plus four batteries to listen to AM only stations as you walk.

The minaturization of electronics will accelerate and enable computers to fit into a room and soon on top of a desk.
