My classes often heard me describe genius as“looking at the ordinary and seeing the extraordinary” With a little expertise, PowerPoint can turn your simple presentation into something extraordinary, and help you look like a genius!
First, have your students gather some digital photos (scanner or camera), then place them into a folder.
On the PC, choose “Insert,” “Picture, and “New Photo Album.” Make choices as to appearance; then create and save. The students may add or edit each slide’s title and text content. This is the ordinary “show and tell” presentation.

Camera images have default file names such as; IMG_1234.

Rename these files if you plan to show filenames in your Photo Album.

Now for the extraordinary: Under the Slide Show menu
Choose “Rehearse Timings” make choices.
Select the following: “Browsed at Kiosk,” “Use Timings” and “Set Screen Size.”
Again under the Slide Show menu, select “Set Up Show”

Save as: PowerPoint Show Now you have a self-running show

When Saved As a PowerPoint show, the file will open immediately to the first slide in presentation view and cannot be edited.

Navigation is by keyboard arrow keys, to quit simply click the Escape key.

Save your file first as a presentation, then as a show. Because…

You will not be able to edit the PowerPoint show file unless you open the file directly from PowerPoint.

For more security against students editing your PowerPoint show file, you can add passwords and lock them as "Read Only".

Any PowerPoint presentation file can be edited by any user unless "Password Protection" has been attached.

As a bonus, to improve laptop font-display quality, go to www.microsoft.com and search for “ClearType Tuner.”
