Choose cooperative learning groups.

Teacher assigns pairs, pairs make groups of four.

Allow groups to pick a topic.

• Amebic Dysentery                               
• Elephantiasis
• Bot Fly                                    
• Liver Fluke
• Giardia                                    
• Guinea Worms
• Heartworms in Pets                            
• Head Lice
• Hookworm                                          
• Malaria
• Pinworm                                             
• Human Tapeworm
• Trichini Worm

1. When the students are in the group, they can:
2. Go on-line and research their topic. Print and keep information
3. Assign roles:

• spokesperson (will do talking)
• writer (will write script)
• photographer (will do videotaping)
• editor (will check everything for accuracy)

    4.  Ask students to consider the following before writing script:

• What should the public know?
•  What audience are you talking to?

    5.  Think about costumes and props.

    6.  Practice

    7.  Film and play back to class

Evaluation:

            Rubric--Ten points each for:

                        Facts clearly stated and accurate

                        Quality of film

                        Cooperation of the group

                        Creative approach

                        Educational nature of the program (effectiveness)
